PRSA Hawaii thanks Outrigger Hotels & Resorts for its generous support of our April program!

Despite the rejection of the "advertising value equivalency (A.V.E.)" as an accepted industry measure by all professional public relations organizations worldwide, many in Hawaii continue to use the method to define public relations success. By doing so, one might argue that we as an industry are trivializing our true public relations worth by measuring column inches and impressions, instead of focusing on measuring what really matters. So, how can we better communicate our value and success to our bosses and clients?

Nationally-renowned measurement expert and author Katie Paine, founder and CEO of KDPaine & Partners, LLC, will address this topic and more in her presentation. She is the author of the recently released Measure What Matters, Online Tools for Understanding Customers, Social Media Engagement, and Key Relationships, as well as the popular text book, Measuring Public Relationships. She is the publisher of the first blog kdpaine.blogs.com and The Measurement Standard, the first such publication dedicated entirely to measurement and accountability. Prior to launching KDPaine & Partners in 2002, Katie was founder and president of The Delahaye Group, with was sold to Mediallink Worldwide, Inc. in 1999. She is also a Senior Fellow and Advisory Board member of the Society for New Communications Research.

Katie will provide a big picture overview of measurement in the 21st century, covering:

  • Where we've been and where we are headed
  • The Barcelona Principles of Measurement and what they mean for the profession. How will they impact your day-to-day activities?
  • How you can use PRSA's Business Case for Public Relations
  • What "Best in Class" measurement programs look like
  • Best tools available today
  • Wither measurement? Where we are headed and how you'll measure results in five years
