Erik Ries, Conversation Instigator & Creative

Erik Ries (aka just "Ries") Conversation Instigator & Creative Director of brandHAWAII has over 18 years of experience in the this industry, with a strong background on Entertainment Advertising. Ries holds an MFA from Pratt Institute’s Graduate Program in Communication & Packaging Design (New York City, NY) by way of Portland State University (Portland, OR), where he double-majored in Advertising Management and Marketing Management.  After spending most of his adult life in New York & Los Angeles branding hollywood movies, famous restaurants and campaigns for talents such as musical artists “The Roots”, Ries moved to Hawaii with the aspiration of bringing positive change to the islands in advertising & design.  One year after holding the position of Design Director of HONOLULU magazine, Ries moved forward with that goal of change by partnering with Tammy Shaffer to create what brandHAWAII is today, a Creative & Development agency that generates brand impact through experiential ideation & strategic storytelling.

Lance is responsible for directing government relations, internal and external communications, and community outreach/charitable giving for Par Hawaii, Inc. and Par Hawaii Refining, LLC, subsidiaries of Par Pacific Holdings, Inc. (NYSE MKT: PARR). Par Hawaii is the state's largest producer and distributor of transportation fuels. The company's oil refinery, located in Kapolei, Oahu and formerly known as Hawaii Independent Energy, is the larger of the state's two refineries with a rated processing capacity of 94,000 barrels per day, Par Hawaii distributes gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other products via pipelines to terminals at Honolulu International Airport, Honolulu Harbor and military installations. Par Hawaii also distributes products to Kalaeloa Barbers Point Harbor where they are transferred to barges that supply the Neighbor Islands. Gasoline and diesel are sold through a network of nearly 100 Tesoro- and 76-branded retail stations on Oahu, Big Island, Maui and Kauai.
